Dodin Bouffant shares two things with his cook of twenty or so years: a passion
for food, and his bed. The Vietnamese director’s camera watches entranced by
their preparation of rich examples of classic French cuisine, but there are portents
of tragedy from the get-go. The film recalls Babette’s Feast and Sunday in
the Country for its celebration of shared things.
