Ipswich Film Society 2026/27 Season
The Penguin Lessons – (12A) Spain/UK/US 2024.
Directed by Peter Cattaneo.
Steve Coogan plays a slightly jaded EFL teacher drifting through South America in the 1970s, who rescues a penguin from a beach and finds himself an adopted parent. The screenplay achieves a delicate balance between humour, pathos and political awareness, and Coogan and Penguin have great chemistry. (111 minutes).
