Ipswich Film Society 2026/27 Season
I Am Cuba – (PG) Cuba/USSR 1964.
Directed by Mikhail Kalatozov.
Granted uncommon access and resources after the success of Castro’s revolution, Soviet director Kalatozov filmed four distinct episodes depicting life in Cuba before the fall of the old regime. Part agitprop, part appeal on behalf of the common man to be allowed to live in dignity, the film combines docu-realism with astonishing technical innovation. (141 minutes).
