The Quatuor Agate’s name and inspiration comes from Brahms’ second sextet for strings,
played in the opening concert of last year’s season. They have achieved international
recognition since 2021 with their debuts in the major chamber music venues across Europe.

To commemorate our centenary and support the future of chamber music,
ICMS have commissioned a new work by the acclaimed young composer
Sebastian Black. The new composition, for clarinet quintet, will be premiered at
this concert. Quatuor Agate and Jonathan Leibovitz will also ’celebrate the old’
with a performance of the well-loved Mozart Clarinet Quintet.
